  • 'Voices Plus' a Quilt Art exhibition at the Waterside Arts Centre

Voices Plus is the second in a series of touring exhibitions I am project managing and installing at the Waterside Arts Centre this year, and runs from 28th July to 13th October 2012.

This is an exciting exhibition from the international Quilt Art group, showcasing new work by 19 members. Each artist produces highly individual work and has a unique voice within the group. Unifying the work is a shared vision: to extend the boundaries of quilting as an artistic medium and achieve wider recognition of the quilt as a contemporary art form.

The exhibiting artists are:

  • Eszter Bornemisza, Hungary
  • Elizabeth Brimelow, England
  • Jette Clover, Belgium
  • Yael David-Cohen, England
  • Fenella Davies, England
  • Ann Fahy, Ireland
  • Dirkje van der Horst-Beetsma, The Netherlands
  • Inge Hueber, Germany
  • Sara Impey, England
  • Val Jackson, England
  • Allie Kay, Ireland
  • Cherilyn Martin, The Netherlands
  • Sandra Meech, England
  • Dominie Nash, USA
  • Mirjam Pet-Jacobs, The Netherlands
  • Karina Thompson, England
  • Janet Twinn, England
  • Anne Woringer, France
  • Charlotte Yde, Denmark.

This is a group of artists who are experimenting with shape, material and technique to push the boundaries of their chosen medium of quilting, and I really liked the way their work and this exhibition made me think again about what a quilt can be.
